The year of the vulture

The clock ticks only forwards

As we fall into the year,

The ups and downs and straight bits

In the hills round here.

A great bird came to visit

And seemed willing just to stay

As people came and watched it

More and more each day.

But as the days got shorter

And things began to spike,

The vulture headed homewards:

It would be quite a hike.

Oh dear and brilliant creature

We’re glad you came our way,

And wish you flying Eastwards

A safe and happy day.
